This email is going to be a little shorter, sorry. I've been sick in bed for the past few days. I woke up with a fever on Saturday morning, so I spent all day Saturday sleeping...slept through the night on Saturday, wore a mask to Sacrament Meeting on Sunday, slept for the rest of the day Sunday, slept through the night last night, and slept all morning today. Hopefully I'll be feeling better soon. I just have a really bad headache, a cough, and I just feel really achy and weak. But I know that this is a trial that is preparing me for the future. God is preparing and teaching me through every experience.
This week my testimony of the Book of Mormon was really strengthened. We have an investigator who is Christian. She believes strongly in and often quotes the Bible when we meet with her. Each time we meet with her, we give her a reading assignment in the Book of Mormon and we use the Book of Mormon as the main source of teaching in our lessons. She recognizes the importance of this book in our religion and knows that in order to know this church is true, she must gain a testimony of the Book of Mormon. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God, by using it to teach the principles of the gospel, we can help others gain a testimony of the truthfulness of this gospel!
I love a part in Preach My Gospel that says, "The testimony of the Book of Mormon confirms the testimony of the Bible that Jesus is the Only Begotten Son of God and the Savior of the world. As you teach the fulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ, you will testify often about the Savior and Redeemer of the world. By the power of the Holy Ghost, you will add your living witness of the truthfulness of this message."
After coming out of a lesson that went longer than we were expecting, I started riding my bike and realized my back tire was completely flat. We called the elders and they brought over an extra bike from their apartment. I almost landed flat on my face when I learned that the back breaks of this bike didn't work. I also learned quickly why the sisters bikes frames are a lot lower than elders. Skirts and high bike frames do not work well together. It was a funny experience riding home on that bike. Struggle.
A few months ago, Ada came to church for the first time with her friend Martin. It was their first time attending our church meetings. After Relief Society, I was able to have a lesson with Ada and a member in our ward. We taught her how to pray, she was so excited about it and really wanted to learn more. We found out she lives in QianZhen, so the elders have been meeting with her. It was a really special experience to watch Martin baptize Ada this week! She had to wait longer to be baptized because of family fandui, but I felt the Spirit so strongly as I watched her make the covenant of baptism with her Heavenly Father!
I know this church is true! I know that Christ lives. He loves and cares about each and every one of us! This is His living gospel, restored to the earth to bless and help God's children.
I love you all so much! Sister Berrey
