I learned so much this week! I absolutely love being a missionary! :)
As we were traveling to Zone Training Meeting, we talked with the lady sitting next to us a little about what we are doing as missionaries. She kept looking at my tag and told us that she remembers seeing missionaries the day before! It's cool to be a part of someone's story like that. Heavenly Father is preparing His children.
After having ward coordination, our ward coordinator asked us if he could have tracts to give to people. Sister King and I laid out all the tracts that we had and he took all of them. After asking a member if she knows anyone who needs the gospel, she gave us two numbers of friends who she thinks need the gospel. I love the excitement in this ward, how the members are so willing to help us in this work! Having the gospel in my life has really made a difference. I know that this gospel can bless everyone. This is why I'm here!!
One day this week, we biked super far up hills to get to a member's house. The map wasn't very clear where his house was, so we took a wrong turn and ended up being really far from his address. By the time we realized how far away we were, we were at the bottom of a really steep hill. Before turning around to go back the way we came, we knocked on the doors of the houses nearby. One man came out and was willing to talk with us for a while. If we hadn't made that wrong turn, he wouldn't have had an opportunity to hear about the restored gospel of Jesus Christ that day!
In English class, we taught the kids how to say the countries of the world! It was so fun! But English is so crazy. During the lesson, we realized how weird these words are....North America, South America, Asia, Europe, Africa, Antarctica, Australia. Weird words. It was a fun lesson!
We've been trying to help our investigators really understand and apply the Book of Mormon to their lives. We gave one of our investigators the Book of Mormon Stories book with all the pictures, they loved it!! And they've been reading a lot more of the Book of Mormon and are understanding it a lot. The Spirit was really strong as we read the account of Nephi, it helped them understand the power that prophets have and their importance in our own lives.
Sister King served in an area called ZuoYing before coming here to XiaoGang. One of her investigators was baptized this weekend, so we traveled to her baptism and it was super super great! Her dad is from America, he's really tall and the baptismal font was super super tiny, so it was a little difficult, but everything worked out and the Spirit was really strong!
We went and visited one of the members in our ward this week, she's pregnant, so she's been spending alot of time inside. We tried to help her out because her friend has been meeting with the missionaries in Taipei, but she's not sure how she can best help her friend. I told her about Natalie's experience getting baptized...not that I did anything at all, but I am so happy that I have been able to know that the gospel has helped Natalie! Ah.
A lot more happened this week, these are just highlights. But I absolutely loved reading 2 Nephi 16:8, "Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then I said, Here am I; send me." Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are not on the earth, we cannot see them, but I know that Heavenly Father has trusted me with this assignment to be His missionary to carry forth His work in Taiwan. I'm so grateful that I can be a part in this work of miracles! I have gone FOR Him. I am trying to do my best to become and do my best.
I also learned a lot this week about receiving revelation from the scriptures. Every time we ask sincerely for an answer from the scriptures and then study it out, Heavenly Father will give us an answer. Without fail, He will answer. Try it! Pray, ask, seek, find.
I love you all so much! Sister Berrey
