Things are so good here in Taiwan! Elder Gong, our Area President, is meeting with the Taiwanese government today to resolve things with the missionaries waiting for their VISAs to come to Taiwan. Please keep praying that everything will be resolved and we will be able to have more missionaries come to our mission! We haven't had new missionaries come to Taiwan from the United States of America for about three or four move calls. Keep praying! We need more missionaries!
This week as we watched the Joseph Smith movie with our investigators, I was really hit by something that he said. It was a scene where the saints were in the process of building the temple. Joseph Smith is inside the temple, surrounded by other brethren hard at work to build the temple. He stops and looks around and reminds the members, "we are not just building a temple, the Lord is building us." I love that line so much! I really felt like that this week, I am not just here building the Lord's kingdom in this ward and this area, I am allowing Heavenly Father to build me. To teach me lessons and prepare me for my future. I hope that as we experience different things every day, we can allow Heavenly Father to shape and prepare us. He is our creator, after all.
During this time of the year, people do a deep cleaning of their houses. The week before Chinese New Year is usually spent cleaning and organizing things. We went and helped our bishop clean on Monday! It was so fun! He owns a dorm complex for college students at the local college. We started from the top and swept and moped all the stairs and entry ways of their dorm rooms.
We had a really good week with Vivian and Casey, we were able to meet with them several times and continue to help them progress towards baptism. We have been praying for them a TON and we are doing all we can to help them continue to learn and progress in the gospel. I love them so much! Every time we meet with them, Casey asks us a lot of questions about God, super cute! They really want baptism and they know that this decision will help their lives so much. We are doing all we can to help them get baptized this month! I'm really excited for them!
I absolutely love our ward! We have FOUR returned missionary sisters and many returned missionary brothers. Two of the sisters are married with kids now, raising their children in a gospel centered family! It's so exciting to see!! The members have a lot of faith and I am always blown away by their examples and strength.
This week was really good. I don't have a lot of time, but I love being a missionary. I am so grateful for this time that I have to represent Him and help others understand the importance of the gospel in their lives.
I love you all so much! Sister Berrey
