  • My Testimony of the Lord Jesus Christ

I'm so grateful we have a Heavenly Father. I'm so grateful He loves us enough to send His son Jesus Christ to earth to atone for us. I know that through Him, we will be able to return to live with our Heavenly Father. I know that we are all so important to Him. He really does love and care for us.

  • Temples My family is united forever

I love going to the temple. I feel so lucky to be able to go every week while I'm here in the MTC. The temple is literally the house of the Lord and I always feel the Spirit so strongly when I go! I love it.

When we are built on the foundation of Jesus Christ, we CANNOT FALL.

Loving my time here in paradise! This week was especially challenging. I feel like I faced spiritual challenges that I had never experienced before. Through prayer, faith, trust, and help from my companion, I can say today that I know this Church is true. I know that we have a prophet at the head who through the power of God is directing us. I know that the Church was restored through the prophet Joseph Smith, that through Him, we have the complete truth of Christ's gospel. I know that we have a loving Heavenly Father who truly does want us to be happy. It is through our time here on earth that we can overcome our challenges and look forward to when we will experience eternal happiness again in His presence. I know that the prophet Gordon B. Hinckley has called me to serve Heavenly Father here in Taiwan. I know that this is where I am supposed to be, and I wouldn't rather be doing anything else. I know that this gospel is the most important thing here on this earth. It is something that needs to continue to be spread throughout the world. I am humbled and grateful for the opportunity to wear Christ's name on my heart each day, to act as His representative and share His truth.

We had Zone Training Conference this week about the Holy Ghost. We traveled about an hour and walked for a while to get to the chapel it was held at. It was empowering to be with a big group of other missionaries learning and improving our teaching skills together, and then to separate to our separate areas where we would use the things we learned.

They asked me to bear my testimony at the end. I shared a quote from Preach My Gospel that I had read a few days before that says "The Holy Ghost bears witness of the truth and impresses upon the soul the reality of God the Father and the Son Jesus Christ so deeply that no earthly power or authority can separate him from that knowledge. President James E. Faust.

I keep thinking over and over about the importance of the Holy Ghost. This Church is true. People can tell you that, and you can believe them, but what is most important is that we know that it's true for ourselves. That answer and confirmation only comes through the power of the Holy Ghost. Having that experience is critical to enduring conversion. As I stood in front of all those missionaries, I was impressed and struck by that experience I had to think about the Holy Ghost. Why are we all here? Why are there thousands and thousands of missionaries around the world? Because we have experienced the change and hope and happiness that comes from this gospel. It is really because we have felt and expereinced the Holy Ghost that has lead us to the desire to share this message with others.

There are so many experiences that I wish I could write about. I'm just really happy that I can be here. I'm so grateful for the difficult trying times, for the happy times, for the times that we work so hard to know what to do, for the moments when we ride home at the end of the day so satisfied knowing that we had done the best we could do, for all the people I have met and learned from. I'm so grateful that I have this opportunity to help others come unto Christ. I know that Heavenly Father lives, He loves us, He is watching out for us.

Sister Rohlfing and I went on exchanges this week - I serve in ZhangHua for a day with Sister Henderson. She's AMAAAZING! We saw SO many miracles in the few hours we had together. My favorite was when we had about thirty minutes left before we could go home. We decided to say a prayer to ask what we should do. After the prayer, we felt like we should go tract near the apartment. As we walked into the complex, I started talking to a girl walking a little in front of us. She turned around and we talked with her. We got to sit down and took some time to get to know her and teach her a little bit about what we're doing as missionaries. As we shared about Heavenly Father and prayer and her divine worth, I saw a few tears fall from her eyes. She told us how much what we were sharing meant to her, and how much she needed to hear those words. Heavenly Father really is watching out for all of His children. She had been struggling with self worth as she's preparing to become a model. She really just needed to feel loved and important.

I hope that we have each felt the power of the Holy Ghost in our lives. If we haven't, all we have to do is pray. Heavenly Father is listening. When we earnestly seek for answers and pray with real intent, we will know the truthfulness of this gospel through the power of the Holy Ghost.

This was one of my favorite parts of conference. They quoted this scripture at least twice.

Helaman 5:12: And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall.

When we are built on the foundation of Jesus Christ, we CANNOT FALL. Trust in that promise.

Love, Sister Berrey
